Demarcus Jones is a star high school basketball player with plans to attend one of the most prestigious universities in the world—until his plans are derailed by his arrest for a heinous crime he did not commit. For seventeen-year-old Demarcus of the Bronx, New York, it feels like he is caught up in a Twilight Zone, with a positive identification by the victim, overzealous detectives driven by the motto “guilty until proven innocent,” and a charismatic, undefeated district attorney determined to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.   

Unbeknownst to Demarcus, he is now the fall guy for the real culprit, who is more than willing to let this young Black man pay the price for his crimes. He has too much to lose and enough resources to stay one step ahead of the law. His wealthy, powerful father has all the right connections to bury the truth and ensure his freedom. The teenage boy and his single mother are no match for these ruthless men, who have all the odds stacked in their favor.  

However, Naomi Jones is not letting her son go down without a fight. She refuses to let an ungodly injustice take away her only son’s future. A secret from her past turns out to be just the thing she needs to enlist an unlikely ally, who might help clear Demarcus’s name and give him back his future.
